As the braindamage spread rampantly across the northern bloc of the free world new kinds of absurd started to surface. One of the main reasons of the downfall in the aftermath was most of the domestic forces realized : business is about the money. If we move out and we lose 400 million potentials, but we gain unlimited access without hassle as much to seven billion instead, our shareholders wont mind a few sanctions from a crumbling remnant. In the late 2020s to early 2030s, on the Rising Sun island it became clear that the dwindling population was a boon, not a curse. With paid work being replaced even at the bottom more and more by robotic arms and floor-robots with small-time pattern recognition and virtual awareness of surrounding, from the proverbial flipping burgers to 'floor-management, it simply turned out to be more resources for less humans. The governments had the hardest time to adapt since they were still stuck in the then-post-war mindset that "every citizen is a resource" (taxes, labour ...) which was ofcourse no longer true, as there was no paid labour for everyone anymore and those who cant can not pay the state to live int it. But they adapted over time the more it became clear that post the last millennium (timeline one), excess population was a burden that simply took up resources (from the point of view of the state a problem thats impossible to solve without external input, even if the elder elite gave up a huge part of their stores of resources / exchangeables it simply mathematically could not last forever. In the end after a period of struggle through the 'ageing population' it all turned out for the best, as opposed to places where the governments had been unable to adapt their mindset from the post-war era into the new times and actively pro-pagated population growth as a solution to the future (but without having any actual tangible plans on how to solve the dwindling resource problem or tackle automation without reverting technology levels back to previous eras - even if, theres simply was not enough to go round for everyone - a prime example of how top-of-the-foodchain can still be a dead end to itself.) He who is stuck in the past ... is history...

"the end of work", inevitable, which had been clear to some of the wizards in high towers and some illuminati, also took a turn for the worst as some work simply couldnt be 'from home'. Everyone already knew this was irreversible. The lowest 'honest' work replaced contagious meat with sterile machinery , which happened to be more efficient, cheaper in the long run, never slept and never went on strike. It didn't ask for a raise, it didnt even raise its voice. Some desperate attempts were made later in timelone one to ban robotic workers but since all those in charge were put there and paid for by all those employing it was futile and short-lived fight. Still the then-called conservatives were oblivious to the fact that UBI was not needed to make humans stop working as such, work disappeared by itself, yet they kept pushing an ever increasing population to "get that job" (which was not there anymore). UBI was simply needed, period. Some years later, after what was called the REAL-second wave , strain-20, brought the global population down to somewhat under 2 billion, the initial horror later during timeline one was mentioned as "what possibly saved the species and the planet as a whole". But that was not the last of it, ofcourse ... humans being humans.

In the first year of the first wave of the first version of the virus that later became the real problem (which wasnt the first version as such, as certain countries, mostly in the Eastern and South-Asian Bloc displayed, having learned from the previous one and FAST) it became clear no one on the planet had experience, or the back-then much praised phD or masters(which in 2021 became abolished, everyone had to turn in and burn their masters degrees because they were racist according to the looting rights act, quickly passed to save the elections from causing a civil war in late 2020 in the former North-American Bloc , a.k.a. 'the free world') ... in global pandemic crisis-management. It became a highly popular degree by 2025, much sought after by the intellectual elite of the remaining two billion humans, as everyone wanted to be the saviour next time ...

What wasn't clear in the early stages of development, which, in timelone one, was right away, the last stage of development, short-lived, but it made sense since from an evolutionary perspective it makes NO sense humans ever made it even to the primal steps en route to Kardashev. What wasn't clear back then was that the metaverse is not an extension but in fact what humans called Newtonian physics was a sub-set of the laws of the metaverse which apply : all across the metaverse . For every action you need an equal (or stronger?) reaction. It applies conceptually, not just physically. Any revolution over evolution is a fine example of that all through the short-lived few thousand years of recorded history. It applies conceptually to about everything imaginable. If you apply external force to a natural system (organic, natural, pick your word-of-the-year) you actually push it out of balance even if the illusion might exist that YOU (the allmighty) are balancing it. Nothing could be further from the truth. Worst case you break something (in the broadest sense of the word, just like system in the broadest sense of the word) and otherwise, the moment, the very moment you stop applying force, or remove the construct-in-place that wasnt there until YOU (the allmighty) put it there. Everything snaps back. Even if sometimes its not noticeable right aways it kind of eases in and it will snap back in the end with noticeable speed and direction into what can be considered as its "natural" state .. because YOU do not out-might the universe, and certainly not the meta-verse. Not even the Vorlons do and they have some years on the likes of you...

The realization had been there for a while that its mathematically impossible to sustain an ever-expanding population with ever-dwindling resources while at the same time automation continued to take over more and more tasks that used to consist of some kind of manual labour, although divided in a sort of caste system between hard-a-manu and prestigious desk-a-mensa, in essence it remains selling human-generated for money instead of money to have machine-generated process (which is for most things more efficient). The motion to move towards a system that actually would sustain until there was an opportunity to expand outward, since that was what the colonial economic system required, was often opposed by the then-conservatives. One of the members of the global council of Illuminati (a secret organisation working several agendas at once behind the scenes) openly supported the idea that (mega-corporate)overflow would be directed back to the excess population until a durable solution was found, be that birth control or physical expansion of living space (the german word was then already bad-speak but in essence means the same) or anything that actually worked. His failure to conform to the norm set in the 1950s and before in all but even appearance led to open clashes with the last president of the Northern Free Bloc as he stated once in a private conversation (vorlon archives - timeline one - classifiles) "The guy looks homeless! We can't have someone who's not even presentable hold even an illusion of real power. That's simply not acceptable" ... most back in 2020 got over that but as was common in the human world , government tended to come from elders (which has its merits in many cases),but not necessarily the wisest of their race (even 'race' was considered an issue of pigment, not species). Going deeper into the summer of the last year before the split, timeline one, it was all too clear all reason had been lost. "We simply need the money, lets open disneyland while we are at a peak but clearly not at THE peak" . Everyone was too far gone with the subsequent brain-damage not being recognized as an actual consequence yet and so it went from bad to worse. Gilead prepared to set up its own state and started collecting handmaids as armed supporters of the last president of the united free world block went rampaging through the streets in response to the looting rights movement. Hell had broken loose. From all angles it looked like there simply was no turning back. No one wanted to, they just wanted to ignore reality and get back into the delusion of a normal life as "things were before" ... timeline one grew stronger, close to exponential. Records from timeline one, gathered from the Vorlon Archives, incomplete as they are (insignificant as humans were in the grand scheme of things) show, some had already started preparing for 'the looming dark'. Sales of landmines and barb-wire surged together with canned food, bunkers from the previous post-war era were high in demand as, as one wrote it down "Things are clear now : if this one doesn't finish us, when i look around at what i used to call my fellow humans, i'm sure the next one will, without error finish the job."

As it turned out soon enough : black lives mattered less the closer it got to the root internally but by then the world started realizing the looting rights movement was more about political incitement than one dead person who shouldn't have, the way authors started seeing racism in traffic lights(medium) and praising asphalt to be black or else! Six months later a few autopsies revealed that the virus had turned to the closest thing to a zombie apocalypse the planet had ever seen, traces in the brain and damage un-explained revealed, but by then it was too late, the civil war had started and all reason gone ... and so "As the Americans learned so painfully in Earth’s final century, free flow of information is the only safeguard against tyranny." your host and commentator : Commander Gato

As it became clear later after hundreds of millions paid the toll when the virus evolved into its next stage, the year where it all fell apart, as suspected had an underlying cause. The permanent effect on the human brain, leading to confusion, and delusions had an avalanche effect. We now assume the absurdity of the looting rights movement was mainly caused by most protesters having lost cognitive functions under the influence of the -19-strain. There's more who would, viruses, induce behaviour like that, for instance to the point where a rat wants to get eaten and it lives in a host it doesnt kill or even damage. But reason was too far gone , the remnants of the former 1960s never fully understood that their age wasn't coming back but they held the world in a chokehold. Restrictions on information and coincidentally a turbulent election year in what used to be one of the mightiest collectives on the planet, combined with and unknown strand quickly laid the foundations of the soon-to-be avalanche into absolute chaos.

The state of turmoil in the mid 2020s was a government's dream come true. From EARN-IT to the ancient European Data Laws, everything could be passed and no one would know what happened before it was signed, corked, stamped and done. Between the pandemic, where by summertime, most of the global population already suffered from what was referred to after as viral fatigue and simply went on, ignoring, and the looting rights movement on the wasteland continent (back then referred to as the the free world) it was easy to forget how in the years where governments started to understand the power and the impact of big data they took every opportunity to chip away at civil liberties. But watchdogs never sleep although they found themselves as always since the dawn of time, mostly barking at the moon. Deaf man's ears. Note how the state provides loopholes for itself, a form of deniability where only the ones issuing and enforcing can make use of it.
